Mary Gomez Luna

Mary Katherine Gomez Luna, age 58, passed away suddenly on Monday, December 18, 2023.

Mary was born December 3, 1965 in Hearne, Texas to her parents Santiago & Consuelo (Martinez) Gomez.

She was one of 4 children. Mary grew up in and around Hearne, Texas. Mary met whom would be her husband Joe Luna, and they would have 2 children Valerie and Brandon Luna. They made their first home in Bryan, Texas and then Waco, Texas. This is where in later years they would welcome a third child that would become Ca’liyah (Cali Rea)Luna. She was a big surprise but one we all grew to love and welcome as our sister and their daughter.

Mary loved to dance, listen to all sorts of music, and sing. When she had a chance you would find her sitting close or shooting some pool as dad DJ’d on the weekends. She loved creating and making crafts. She loved to cook. She was a big social butterfly. Her kids were first always. She would bust her butt to get things done for us. Mom welcomed a granddaughter Aiyana Gabrielle Gillespie on August 14th, 2005. Then a grandson Luke Joe Luna Shields or as she called him her Luca on July 23, 2022. Her children and grandkids were and are her pride and joy. Mary had a big heart and gave even if it was her last. She opened her home to many of her children’s friends, and they would call her momma Luna.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers that she missed everyday. Our worlds were turned upside down on December 18, 2021, our father and Mary’s husband Joe Luna passed away.

Mary is survived by her oldest daughter Mrs. Valerie Shields and husband Andrew; her son Brandon J. Luna; and youngest daughter Ca’liyah Luna; granddaughter Aiyana Gabrielle Gillespie; grandson Luke Joe Luna Shields; coming very soon granddaughter Leilani Joelene Luna Shields; sister Cynthia Ann Davis and Henry Davis; Many nephews and nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles, that will miss her very very much.
