Maria passed away in the comfort of her home the morning of January 5, 2024, in Bryan, Texas.

Services will be carried out by Callaway- Jones funeral home located at 

Visitation will be held from 10am -11am on Tuesday January 9,2024. The service will be held at 11am also on Tuesday January 9,2024. 

Maria was born in Camargo Tamaulipas, Mexico to Canuto Rosas and Maria Garza. She was the 3rd oldest of 6 sisters. Maria raised her children in Mexico until she decided to join her oldest sister in Calvert,Texas. She then moved to Bryan, where she worked and served aggies. She would then go on to work at Court Saddlery where she learned to sew and even make chaps for this local family shop. 

She loved her family immensely. Making food on the weekends so everyone could come over and hang out. She enjoyed having her family united. 

She also made tamales to sell, and if you ask anyone; hers were the best in town.  

Her other passions were Bingo and going to the Casino. Oh boy!  She loved the sound of a slot machine. 

She leaves behind her daughter Vicky Contreras, Arcadio “Art” Contreras and 10 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. 

Preceded in death by her daughter Rosa Contreras Olivarez, and her sisters; Eduviges Rueda, Delia Sauceda, Virginia Guerra, Angelica Rosas Garza, and Rosenda Rosas.
