Mardi was born on February 15, 1934 and raised on a family farm located near the Czech community of Praha, Texas. Her early education was in a small three room school house in the community of Novohrad, Texas. She attended Flatonia High School and graduated in 1951 as the Salutatorian of her class.
After high school she worked as a receptionist in a doctor’s office. On June 13, 1954 she married Willie Kopecky at the Praha Catholic Church, one of the Painted Churches in South Central Texas. Mardi traveled with Willie as they served 20 years in the Air Force, having moved some 16 times. She was a real trooper and handled all challenges extremely well. She also donated countless hours to volunteer work such as the 1886 Room and the Caring Place. She was easy to like and easy to love.
Mardi and Willie adopted two boys, Michael and Christopher in 1963 and 1964. A girl, Sue, was born to them in 1966. She was a proud and loving mother to her three children and four grandchildren.
If desired, gifts in her memory can be made to:

She was a sweet lady! God bless her soul.
