Betty Marie (Wolle) Lavender, age 79 of Iola, Texas, loving mother, grandmother, wife and friend passed away September 3, 2020 with her husband, Bill and son, Charles by her side, after suffering from a long illness. Her Celebration of Life is being held on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 11:00am at Martin’s Prairie Missionary Baptist Church, 12540 CR 175 Iola, Texas, 77861. The service will be officiated by Pastor Jeremy Baker.
Betty was born in Cameron, Texas on May 5, 1941. She graduated from Iola High School and married Bill on November 27, 1958. She attended Lydia Beauty School in Houston, Texas. She and Bill lived in Houston until 1969 when they relocated to Bryan, Texas. Throughout her life, her career included apartment management, accounting, and editing for the local newspaper.
Betty is preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Fikes Ruzicka; brother, Dennis Ruzicka; son, Brian Lavender; and daughter-in-law, Karen Letbetter Lavender. She is survived by her husband, Bill Lavender; older son, Charles Lavender; and her sisters, Francis Basonic and Dories Van Noord. Her grandchildren, Courtney Lavender Bastani, Meagan Lavender, Allen Lavender, and Jacob Rivas; numerous nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Martin’s Prairie Cemetery Association, in care of Darlene Lavender, 14389 FM 244, Iola, Texas 77861.
