Linda Holmes Millhollon,83, of College Station, Texas, went to be with Our Lord on December 26, 2023. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Linda was born in Seymour, Texas, on September 1, 1940 to Jack Irwin Holmes and Edith Ginn Holmes. She was the last of eight children and had two half-brothers, Chester Miller and Bud Miller and four brothers Jake Holmes, Bob Holmes, Joe Holmes and Jerry Holmes and one sister Alma Faye Holmes Segler.

Linda graduated from Iowa Park, Texas High School in 1958.  During her school years she excelled in sports including basketball, and volleyball. She was elected Miss Iowa Park High School and football sweetheart.  She served as Oil Progress Queen in 1957.

She was also selected as a representative to the Daughters of the American Revolution. She attended Texas Tech for one semester before transferring to Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX, where she pledged the Alpha Phi Sorority.

Linda married John Millhollon on November 24, 1961, and moved to Enid, Oklahoma.  She worked at the First National Bank until John finished school and entered the Air Force.  Over the next twenty years she traveled the world until John retired in 1985.

They moved to Bryan Texas and the next year Linda went to work at Texas A&M.  She first worked in the Texas Transportation Institute and then spent the next fifteen years as a Program Manager in the Business School, Center for Executive Development. Linda retired from Texas A&M in 2001 and she and John traveled in their Airstream for several years.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed singing in her church choir, always with a smile. A Pastor once said that Linda’s gift was the gift of being a wonderful host who made everyone feel welcome in her home.

Linda is survived by her husband John B. Millhollon of College Station, TX; sons, Steve Millhollon of New York, NY, Doug Millhollon and wife Marisu of San Antonio, TX, Earl L. Millhollon II and wife Lori of College Station, TX; seven grandchildren, Jon Christopher Millhollon and wife Miranda, Michael Millhollon and wife Melissa, Hannah Millhollon, Reghan Millhollon, Reid Millhollon, Ryan Millhollon and Riley Millhollon; and one great-granddaughter, Carson Millhollon.

Linda’s life will be honored at 2pm Saturday, December 30, 2023, at First Methodist Church in Bryan, with Pastor Rick Sitton officiating. There will be a visitation for an hour prior to the service. Interment will be at 2pm Tuesday Jan 2, 2024, at Dundee Memorial Cemetery in Dundee, Texas.

  9. Dear John, Steve, Doug, & Earl , Mom (Rita) andI live streamed the service you had for Linda. We wish so much we could have been there for you. I know you have your family that you all can lean on for support but we so much wish we could be there to hug you, cry with you.
    Though the years have been many since we were last together it doesn’t change the love we have for your family.
    She was a WONDERFUL 2nd mom to Jill and I when we were young in Alabama and Wichita Falls and a great friend to mom(Rita) and dad (George).
