Joyce Martin, 76, of College Station, passed away September 15, 2021. Her Homegoing Celebration of Life will be at 10am Wednesday, Sept. 22 at Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Center in Bryan with longtime family friend Jonathan Poe officiating. Services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers of Bryan College Station.

Joyce was born November 22, 1944, in Versailles, Missouri. She was an outgoing, free spirited ball of fire who enjoyed many things. She married Artis Lawson at the age eighteen and they had six children. Her caring spirit led her to nursing for twenty years prior to her retirement. After retirement she continued to care for people.

Even with her passing she continues to give as an organ donor and will give the gift of life. She loved traveling, spending time with family, and she specially loved playing bingo.

Joyce is preceded in death by her daughter, Ruth Ann Johnson; sister, Phyllis Franks; and brother, Henry Martin.

Survivors include her children, Theresa Lawson, Artis Lawson Jr and wife Mary, Rana Turner and husband Victor, Kimberly Sparks and husband Marcus, Nicole Lawson; siblings, Robert Martin and wife Jackie, Carolyn Martin; grandchildren, Oritz III, Joyclin, Brandon, Comelina, Myron, Bradley, Kyle, Taurean, Christina, JoAnn, Victor Jr., Alexis, Darius, Hannah, Erlinda, Elizabeth; and 29 loving great grandchildren.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the Baylor Scott & White Medical Team and Nurses in Emergency and ICU, as their care was phenomenal.

  11. While I did not know Joyce, I know she must have been a good person and an amazing mother as she raised such a great child in Nicole and it is reflected in her.   12. Nothing will ever be the same was we move into a world with out you as a guiding force for Aunties to follow. You have shown us life will get better after the loss of women who not only survived but thrived, even if some of us are undertall!
