Joseph “Marty” Martinez, 75, of Bryan, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2020, in Bryan. Visitation will begin at 5 with a Rosary recited at 7 pm, Friday, September 18, 2020, at the funeral center. Life Tribute Celebration will be at 12 noon, Saturday, September 19, 2020, at the funeral center. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers, Bryan-College Station.

Joseph was born on July 22, 1945, in Salt Lake City to Joe and Charlotte Martinez. He left home to serve his country, joining the Marines. He did a tour of duty in the Vietnam War in which he was proud of. On return to San Diego Camp Pendleton, he met a fellow Marine who he has called his wife for the past 51 years. Together they raised 4 children and settling in Texas, which they call home.

His daughter, Virginia Fernley; his parents, Joe and Charlotte; his son-in-law, Ed Rivas; his sister, Virgie; brothers, Leno and Robert; all precede him in death.

Joe is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Alice Martinez; his children Lynnette Rivas, D.J. and wife Tannis Martinez, Stacie Martinez and Telly Hughes; his sisters, Jessie, Josephine, Nick, Benny, Rita, Dora, and Pearle; his eleven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces, and other relatives.

Going to miss you Uncle Marty, we had have a ton of memories from Houston to Magnolia and to Bryan, we had many laughs and stories we all shared as kids through out our adult hood, you gave us all great advice at one one time or another,and I will always be great full because of that, rest easy, love you

  3. My condolences for the family. You may not have been around a lot because we’re here in Utah, but you definitely made a lasting impression in my life. The nickname you called me. The few war stories you told me. Being with us at Liberty Park for the 24th of July celebration here in Utah. You were a great brother to my Grandma Josephine. I know she loved you a lot, & I’m thankful to you for that.
