Joseph A. Marshall, was born October 6, 1957.

Joe was the 11th child to Eddie Lue and Annie Mae (Long) Marshall.  Joe, as he was affectionally known as to many in the area, was a longtime resident of Welborn, TX.

Joe attended A&M Consolidated High School where he was an exceptional student. He participated in several extra circular activities, joined the football team and ran track. His classmates often felt he was the “strongest student in the school”.

Joe enlisted in the U.S. Navy in March 1977. He became an aviation machinist for the T-2C Buckeye aircraft.  Over the years, Joe had many careers.  Joe spent a number of years working at Texas A&M, where he ended his career and retired early.

Joe enjoyed drawing and painting and playing his guitar. He was an Aggie’s super fan and he also enjoyed watching professional sports. Joe also had a generous soul, and he was willing to give the shirt off his back to a stranger. He always was in good spirits and could start up a conversation with anyone who he encountered.  Joe was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, sibling, cousin and friend. Most importantly he loved God.

Joe married Sharon in August 2012, and they lived peacefully together until he passed away on February 25, 2024.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: (Charles, Eddie, Rufus (Sunny), Ancie, Annie Ruth, Corene, James (Bowink). He’s survived by his wife Sharon Marshall; daughters Kristie Marshall Robinson (Husband Brain Robinson) Tangenika Queen (Husband Thomas Queen); grandchildren: JaLynn Bell (Wife Que-Aunna Bell), JaQuan Bell and Journee Robinson and Tyson Queen; siblings: Willie, Robert (Peter), Richard and Louise.

  1. Joe was on my custodial team at Texas A&M University. Joe was a team player, an excellent worker , and a good Friend. He always had a good attitude toward any assignment given Him. Rest In peace my Brother. Joe was also a military Veteran – served his country proudly.

  2. Sharon, I’m so sorry for this loss. No words can make things better. But I empathize with your pain. Joe was nice when I met him, years ago. Just know that you are in my prayers. God bless you, may you find comfort bÿ the presence of the Holy Spirit. Sending you a heart felt hug.

  3. If Joe was in a room, you would have known it. His voice was distinctive.
He was fun going and easy going, as i am sure all his school classmates will tell you.
As he grew older and wiser. More and more like his father, Eddie. Always kind and thoughtful.
Anytime I walked up behind him in public and said, “Joseph”. He always knew it was me.
I will miss my friend and classmate, just as I miss his father, Eddie.
    Rest in Peace…..

    Kaydence Williamson (Little Krystal)

Mr. Joe lived across the street from me. I met him and became really great friends and neighbors because of his smoking them dang black and molds. He was outside smoking the same time as I was and he put his black out and threw it in his trashcan. Little did he know….. That he didn’t put it out all the way and the trash was on fire.. my boyfriend Josh, but as Mr. Joe called him Luke don’t know why he could not remember his name, but it was always Luke, this and Luke that anyways he run across the street to let Mr. Joe know his trashcan was on fire and the rest was history. We became really great friends And I loved it because I think he made me a louder person. Because I would be sitting on my front porch, and he would be sitting on his front porch, and instead of us, walking towards each other to talk, we would just yell across the street. It was so funny and oh my goodness it didn’t matter where I seen this man he never had no Dagon shoes on . He brightened my day on them bad days when I really needed something or someone to light up my life and I would walk out my front door and that man would yell Krystal loud as possible. I swear the next county could hear him and it would just light me up because he was so kind to me and I had a lot of hard times in the past being a single mom and Mr. Joe was always right there told me keep my head up. I can do it I was doing a good job. He loved my kids And he always was asking about my son. How’s that boy doing? Always reassured me all the time that I raised great kids and I was doing a good job being a single mom. I am going to miss him so very much. His big smile and his loudmouth . I will see you again, Mr. Joe not anytime soon hopefully but I will see you again. I don’t worry I’ll let my dad know that you were coming and I’m pretty sure y’all are fishing right now we’re drinking some beer listening to some good ol music. We love you Mr. Joe.
