Mr. Jessie "Chico" Rodriguez Jr.

Jessie “Chico” Rodriguez Jr, 66, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at CHI St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan. Visitation will be Friday, January 20, 2023, from 5pm -6:30pm with the Rosary at 6:30pm, at Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Center, Bryan. Funeral Mass will be officiated by Monsignor John McCaffrey on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 12 noon at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bryan. Interment will follow at Bryan City Cemetery. Pallbearers are Tim Ontiveros, Gregory Alvarado, Yolanda Vasquez, Larry Rodriguez Jr, Michael Rodriguez, and Martin Espitia. Honorary Pallbearers are Louis Garcia, Gabriel Jessie Rodriguez and De’Andre Robinson.

Jessie was born on December 27, 1956, in Bryan, Texas to Eufemia and Jessie Rodriguez Sr. He was born and raised in Bryan and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He loved working as a truck driver for many years at Kelly Burt Dozer. He enjoyed fishing and the outdoors, watching the Dallas Cowboys, and most of all spending time with his family. His family says, “Our Dad was a strong, courageous and loving man. He touched many lives, and he never met a person he didn’t like. He taught us respect, to never quit and finish what you started. Whether you fail or succeed, always do it with a smile.”

Jessie was preceded in death by his parents and brothers; Larry, Eddie Joe, Robert and Ronnie Rodriguez. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Connie Rodriguez; daughters, Jessica Mota and spouse Hector Mota Jr, Ashley Idlebird and spouse Andre Idlebird, and Larissa Garza; son, Jessie Rodriguez III and partner Carolina Deleon; grandchildren, Louis Garcia, Gabriella Garcia, Abigail Garcia, Gabriel Jessie Rodriguez, Audrie Idlebird, Estella Idlebird, Phoenix Idlebird, De’Andre Robinson and Sambo Argo; sisters, Julie Ramirez, Dora Torres, and Diana Rodriguez. The family would like to acknowledge and thank Kelly and Sharon Burt and Kelly Burt Dozer Inc, Dr. Henry Pham, Dr. Chizoba Obi, Eddie and Arlinda McCoy,Trish and LIz with radiology and all the nurses who cared for him at CHI St. Joseph Hospital.
