Born in: Austin, Texas
Resided in: College Station, Texas

James (Jim) L. Bundren passed away at the age of 68 on May 24, 2024, in Bryan, Texas surrounded by his family and loved ones.

He was born in Austin, Texas, the oldest of five children, and moved with his family to Bryan, Texas where he would grow up and meet the future love of his life, the girl next door, Debra Johnson. Jim proudly served in the U.S. Navy and was a Vietnam veteran. He adored raising his four children and teaching them about the world and everything in-between. He enjoyed fishing, loved being outdoors in nature, and had an affinity for reptiles, particularly snakes. He was quick witted with a dry sense of humor, loved to laugh, and make others laugh. There wasn’t a vehicle he wouldn’t tinker with, or a problem he couldn’t solve. The stories he told and the knowledge he shared will stay forever with his family. He was a loving husband, father, and brother and put everyone else’s needs before his own.

Jim was a beloved son, husband, father, brother, and uncle. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Beverly and James W. Bundren. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Debra S. Bundren (Johnson); his daughters, Jessica M. Bundren and Jacqueline G. Bundren, his sons, James E. Bundren and William T. Bundren; his grandchildren Dylan Berry and Adrianna Bundren; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Marsha and Cory Walton, JoAnn Jaehne, and Laurie and Chris Smith; his brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Christie Bundren; several nephews, one niece, and numerous cousins.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

  1. Who will I call when I find a snake in the yard (or even worse..house) now? 🙂
Ive known you my entire life & was lucky enough to become your sister-in-law when I was 4 yrs old!
I will miss you dearly Jim now and always!
    Love you brother!

  2. To all the Bundren family, children, siblings, and others, you have my love and sympathy. I share in your sadness and grief and pray God’s comfort for you.

  3. Jim. You’re the manliest man I ever met and am so grateful that I knew you as a friend that mentored me at work and really just was a shining example of how to tough things out. Prayers for your family.

  4. My condolences to Debra and family. Jim and I spent many days and nights working on usually extreme oil and gas service related projects. He was a dedicated professional and always made sure we had plenty of coffee brewed on location. Godspeed my friend!

  5. Jim was a great person and always willing to help anyone out. There was never a dull moment when working with him. Always had coffee in hand no matter if it was hot or cold outside. He will be greatly missed. Prayers for the family.
