Hynek Joseph Hejl, 77, of Bryan, passed away at 1:26pm on August 14, 2021, at his residence.

He was born on August 6, 1944, in Caldwell, the son of the late Hynek Hejl and Lillie Gerzik. Hynek married Barbara Horelka, who survives him. Together, they shared many years of happy memories.

Hynek worked on the family farm, and later on for the City of Bryan. He ultimately retired from Moore Business Forms in Bryan.

In his spare time, Hynek enjoyed playing dominos with his friends at Martin’s Place, loved deer hunting, fishing, watching western movies, and putting up bird houses for the Purple Martin birds that would arrive each year, as well as watching baseball.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Hejl; sons Joseph Hejl, and wife Amy, Jason Hejl, and James Hejl; sisters Dorothy Jean Vander Cruyssen, Barbara Cogbill and husband Al, Carolyn Habryl and husband Doug; one grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hynek and Lillie Hejl and sister, Mary Paczkowski.

Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service at Callaway-Jones Funeral Center, 3001 South College Avenue, Bryan, TX 77801, set for August 27th at 2:00 pm. Masks are requested by the family but not required.
