Henry Carol Holder, 91, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023. He was born July 30, 1932 to Joseph and Lilly (Ford) Holder in Iraan, Texas.

Henry grew up in West Texas, mostly in Iraan and the surrounding area. As a boy, Henry was interested in hunting, fishing, trapping, and sports. He retained his love of the outdoors and sports his entire life – as a Scout Leader, doing family camping, hunting and fishing and as a Coach for his children’s sports teams, including basketball, baseball, and football. He also loved to travel, driving to Alaska to spend the summer and taking other trips with his family and friends. Henry was also active in his Church, serving in a number of capacities as a leader and a servant. He was also active in charitable work, including serving as a long-time driver for Meals on Wheels.

Henry graduated from Texas A&M as an Industrial Engineer and spent his career in the Civil Service, mostly at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Before entering Texas A&M, Henry served in the US Army at the Yokohama Supply Depot in Japan during the Korean War.

Henry is survived by his wife Joyce (Fisbeck) Holder, son Michael Holder and wife Pam, daughter Pamela Erchinger and husband David, son Mitchell Holder and wife Cathy, nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Lilly Holder, wife Betty Holder, sister Carrie Ross, and brothers Joe and Bud Holder.

The funeral service for Henry will be at 11:00 am on December 12, 2023 at Wesley Brethren Church in Wesley, Texas followed by interment with military honors at the Wesley Brethren Cemetery.

  1. Pam, I’m so very sorry! We loved Henry. My Mom (Mackie) loved him so, so much. She never stopped caring for him until her passing in Dec 2011. For some reason, Henry was on my mind. I found his obit today online. God give y’all comfort in knowing, Heaven awaits. Prayers for comfort. ♥️
