Harvey Lee McFalls, 88, of Bryan went to be with the Lord on August 15, 2023.  He was born December 28, 1934 in Star City, Arkansas to the late Port Arthur McFalls and wife Pauline Harvey.  Loving wife Mary Alice of 65 years preceded him in death in October 2021.  Harvey is survived by son, Jett Arthur McFalls and wife Kim; cousin, Sue Sullivan, and husband Homer; three grandchildren, Jett McFalls Jr. and wife Jacci; Kristen Davis and husband Randy; and Courtney McFalls; eight great-grandchildren, Kinzie (18), Faith (15), Kash (14), Rylee (12), Champ (12), Kalli, (10) Atlas (10), Starks (7); and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.  He graduated from Ouachita Parish high school in Monroe, LA in 1953.  In 1955, he met Mary Alice Drew in Houston and they were married.  He joined the Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Pendleton in 1957 where he spent two years. He returned to Houston to work for Foley’s Department Store where he served as store manager.  After two years at Foley’s he began a 20 year career with Sears Roebuck again as store manager at several locations around the Houston area. In 1980, he and Mary Alice opened a Sears Catalog Order Store in Trinity, Tx.  In 1995, he retired and they moved to Bryan to be near family.

Harvey was a servant of the Lord, a faithful and loving husband.  He was a talented pianist and served as music director/worship leader at several churches during his time in Houston. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Bryan where he served as deacon, bible class teacher, and Worship Leader.  He enjoyed playing the piano and leading others in worship alongside Mary Alice.  He was an avid gardener and you could often find him in his greenhouse tending to his African Violets and award winning orchids.  He will be greatly missed.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Harvey was the Music Director of my home church, Broadway Baptist in Houston. He left a legacy of Gospel Music, much appreciated by many. He shared his gift of playing the piano with his wife Mary Alice and others. I’m thankful to have called him a great friend. Prayers and condolences to his family. Linda Presley

  2. Mr Harvey and Mrs Mary were the 2nd people we met when we moved into our home. We use to love to stop by and visit them. As the years went on, our son and his friend would go listen to Harvey tell stories of being in the Marines. What a precious couple. Our street is a little darker, but we rejoice that he is reunited with his precious Mary and with the Savior they loved so much.

  3. Good ‘ol Uncle Harv as he always addressed himself to his nephews and nieces was one of the best!!! I can still hear him playing the piano and singing (sometimes) with Aunt Marmie, seeing him smile with that tightly trimmed mustache. His love for his Lord, Family, and Country was evident through his words and actions. They don’t make many like him anymore and I am so thankful that we got to spend time together for many years when we all lived in Houston.

  4. My precious memories of Harvey, Mary Alice and Jett, go back 50+ years to Broadway Baptist Church, Houston. My husband, Robert, “Dr. Bob” and I sang with them and in the choir, which Harvey so expertly directed. He introduced the Gaither Southern Gospel style to our Bapt. Hymn-singing church, and invited singers like Mark Lowrie to do concerts. Mary Alice’s family connection with the Blackwoods Family Singers, further increased our love for singing trio with the McFalls. Harvey and Mary came to my 80th Birthday party 5 yrs. ago, and when my husband became very ill, he came to see us. Bob died 8 mos. ago, and Harvey came to New Braunfels for his Memorial. My heart breaks for the loss of both of them, but I know his greatest desire has been to be with his beloved, Mary Alice. May God bless and comfort Jett and the family.
