The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm on Monday, November 27th, at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan. A celebration of James’ life is scheduled for 2:00 pm, Monday, November 27th, 2023, 2017, at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan. Interment will follow at Steep Hollow Cemetery. James (Jim) was born May 11th, 1956, in Brownwood, Texas, the son of Dean and Mary Allen. James grew up all over the country as his father was in the Navy, eventually settling in Bryan, Texas. James graduated from Bryan High School in 1975 and joined the Air Force. He was a C141 aircraft crew chief, serving for four years. James retired from Texas A&M Easterwood Airport as Operations Supervisor after 29 years. He then retired from Astin Aviation, serving in the same capacity after four years.
James loved airplanes, camping, boats, watching the SyFy channel, and Texas A&M Football. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. The loss of our father, grandfather, mentor, and friend profoundly saddens us.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Diane Allen, parents, Dean and Mary Allen, and grandparents, Essie and Howard Polk and Ella Brooks Harral.
Survivors include his twin brother Howard Wayne Allen and his wife Diana Allen; his sister Deana Desiree Allen; his sons Russell and Joshua Kirby and their spouses Miranda and Deborah Kirby; grandchildren Aidan, Caulen, Jordan, Cameron, and Aletheia Kirby and his nephew and nieces, an uncle, aunt, and cousins.

My brother. I love, and I will miss you. Remembering the good times.
Jim was a great son-in-law, husband, father, grandfather, and Christian friend. He will be missed by many!!!
Jim was so much to so many. He was there for all he loved and many that didn’t know how much he cared until he appeared in their lives. We will miss him very very much.
James was my friend and then my brother-in-law. We were always close but especially the last couple of years. Went through good and bad times, mostly good. Wouldn’t change the time we had for anything. He was the perfect uncle to our kids. They always said uncle James gave the best presents. He always took them shopping and spent a lot of time with them when we were on leave. Cannot believe we are here now. He will be greatly missed. We love you.
