Gladys Ella Moravec West, who was born March 3, 1936, left this world and our lives and entered her heavenly home on January 19, 2022.  Visitation will be Saturday, January 22, 2022 from 12-2 and a graveside service will be at 2:30 at Restever Cemetery.

She was one of 9 children born to Frank and Milady (Ondrasek) Moravec.

Gladys was an amazing, caring, loving mother, daughter, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her true calling in life was that of a caregiver.  She cared for many children in her years, as well as, elderly friends, neighbors, and family that needed her. She was an excellent cook, seamstress, and gardener.  She was also, to those that had the pleasure of knowing her, a master of Gladys WIT and HUMOR.

She was preceded in death by husband, Forrest West, parents, 6 siblings, and daughter Connie (Plant) Mantey, and son-in-law Ricky Mantey Sr.

She is survived by daughter Brenda Hayes and Mark Davidson; son Franklin (Bubba) West and wife Cherie Grandchildren Ricky Mantey Jr, and wife Kara; Holli (Hayes) Niemeyer and husband John Adam; Patrick Mantey and wife Tiffany; Collin Hayes; Chelsea McAdams, and Cara West. Great grandchildren Kanzie and Rixton Mantey, Kenner, Kyleigh, Kingsley, and Kambry Mantey, Harper and John Cason Niemeyer. Stepchildren George West and wife Marcia West, sons Mike and Max; James West and wife Sharon, children Keri and Kyle; and Bonnie West. Also sister Martha Jones, brother George Moravec and Kay, and sister-in-law Floy Moravec

  1. Brenda, Bonnie, James & Franklin I am so sorry to hear about your sweet Mother and Stepmother passing away. Connie and I were best friends in JH/HS and I spend many days/nights at Momma Gladys’s house. She treated me like one of her own. She was such a sweetheart and I loved her dearly. Sending many prayers and lots of hugs to you all. RIP Momma Gladys, give Connie a hug. ❤️❤️

  2. Bubba, Brenda & the rest of Momma Gladys’ family I am so sorry for your great loss. Momma Gladys was one of the best mothers, grandmothers, friends, etc. She loved and smiled continuously. She will be greatly missed. She, Connie and I had some great times together. Even with Bubba, Brenda, Cara & Marcia. I’m so very sorry but I will most likely not be able to attend the services due to Covid! I love you all. Many hugs to everyone. Patrick, Ricky, Jr. & Kara y’all are in my prayers also.
