He earned his bachelor’s degree in industrial distribution in 1988 and his master’s in educational administration in 1992, both from Texas A&M University. Gary held various recruiting, coaching and athletic director positions in college and professional football beginning as a graduate student at Texas A&M, then at the University of Tennessee, the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks before returning “home” for a successful 8 year career as Texas A&M’s director of football operations prior to moving into his associate athletics director role. He most recently served as the senior director of development for the Texas A&M Foundation and the College of Geosciences since August of 2018.

Gary’s passion for Texas A&M began before he set foot in his first college class. Fish Camp made a great impact on him when he attended as a freshman that he went on to attend as a counselor three times. It is also where he met his wife Jessica.

Gary touched many lives in the selfless way he served others. Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. So many of my best memories of A&M include Gary. What a loss so early of a life lived well and fully! Prayers for those you left behind. We will meet again my friend!!

  2. Gary will be greatly missed. He was enthusiastic, inspirational and always eager to listen. Although football was his passion, Gary showed his interest in may other things such as geology by participating in Texas A&M GEODAC (Geology and Geophysics Advisory Committee). He was a good friend to me and others in the organization. We only wish we had more time with him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

  3. Gary, you are one of the reasons I am where I am today. From the days as a player when you came in with Sherman, helping this young boy grow into a man, to the days around the office when I was back as a coach you were always a pleasure to be around. You will he missed, but never forgotten. Thank you. Your family will be in my prayers.

  4. I still can’t find the right words to really give justice to Gary for the life he lived and the example he lead. He will be missed professionally and personally. While his time was shorter on this Earth than we would have liked, it was extremely impactful. He had such an ability to make people feel valued and appreciated. He lived a life of significance. I pray his daughters will find comfort in knowing how special he was.

  5. Gary will be so greatly missed. He was a bright light in any room he entered. His warm and genuine demeanor will be missed and his passion for Texas A&M University was undeniable. Our love and prayers of peace and comfort are with Jessica, the girls and to all that love him. May God wrap his loving arms around each and every person who is a better person because of Gary.

  6. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of Gary’s family and friends. We are all better for having him in our life.

  7. Although I only had the pleasure of knowing Gary for a short period of time, he stood out as an exceptional person from the moment I met him. Gary approached each and every conversation he had with a level of care and respect that made you feel like the most important person in the world. He was always a great listener. He often paused to collect his thoughts before offering an insightful remark or a pointed question. His attention to detail and commitment to elevate others was palpable in every interaction. He always saw the best in others and made sure to share that with everyone in the room. His kindness was incredibly contagious and will always be remembered.

My thoughts are with Gary’s family and friends during this difficult time.

  8. Sending healing prayers and comforting hugs. I am so sorry for your loss. It was truly a pleasure working with Gary and he will be deeply missed.

  9. Jessica, you are in my thoughts and in my prayers. Sending love abd comfort. He will always be in your heart and your guardian angel.

  10. In the short time I was lucky enough to work with Gary, I was always in awe of his thoughtfulness. Each word seemed carefully thought about before it was ever spoken. His positivity and kindness were both contagious and calming. Prayers for peace, rest and comfort to his family.

  11. Gary had the unique ability to always make your day better when you interacted with him. He was a role model for many of us at the Texas A&M Foundation, and we will sure miss seeing him around. To Jessica and the family, we are very sorry for your loss. God bless you all.

  12. Sweet Remembrance
Coach Reynolds had a huge influence on my football career at Texas A&M
and I will forever be grateful for our relationship. I especially remember Gary’s gentle spirit and loving nature. He will always be remembered as a selfless person of great character. Those early mornings at the Bright Center would not have been accomplished without Coach Reynolds. He is special man with a huge heart and everybody knew it. He genuinely cared for everyone and always asked how your day was going. The first person in the building and the last to leave. I am grateful that I had the pleasure of witnessing such a hard working man. What stood out to me most is witnessing an incredible father and husband. The best memory we shared was the time we spent together. That will never be forgotten. Praying for peace and comfort during this difficult time.

  13. What a blessing it is to know Gary Reynolds; always smiling and positive, genuine and sincere. He made time for others. He lived and loved with abandonment. This world, and the people he touched are better because of him. You will be missed, my friend. Thank you for setting the example. Rest In Peace. I pray for your daughters, Jessica, your friends and family go comfort at this time.

  14. Gary, I miss you, but I know your pain is gone, you’re in Heaven and I’ll see you again one day. I’ll treasure our great memories for now. Say hello to Larry Kelm for me in the meantime. Thank you for always being a positive influence in my life. Love you brother!
