September 25, 1953 ~ July 27, 2023

Born in: Fort Worth , Texas
Resided in: Bryan, Texas

In loving memory of Edson David Jordan Jr, born September 25, 1953, to Ed & Martha Jean Jordan at St Joseph’s Hospital in Ft Worth Texas. David was a proud Army veteran who served his country with honor and dedication as a Military Police Officer. He was stationed @ Ft Sam Houston 5th Army Headquarters in San Antonio, Texas during the Vietnam War. It was during his tour at Ft Sam Houston, that he encountered a charming, curly haired girl named, Rita.

Throughout his life, “Pop” was surrounded by his 5 creative & diverse children who blessed the family with 14 grandchildren & one great grandchild, the apple of his eye, Gracelynn.

He is survived by his devoted curly haired wife of 47 years, Rita Jordan, who stood by his side through thick & thin, especially in the 4 final difficult years of his illness. David’s legacy lives on through his children: his son, Aaron Jordan and wife, Shanelle Jordan, a Marine veteran who followed in his father’s footsteps; his 4 beloved daughters, Alison Wilson and husband, Broderick Wilson, Aubrey Rodriguez, Ashlee Castillo and husband Marcos Castillo, and Abby Rose Peevey and husband, Shane Peevey, who were a constant source of “roller coaster rides”, pride but above all love & joy.

David was a beloved brother to his two younger siblings, Mike Jordan and wife, Luz Jordan, and Keith Jordan and wife Vicky Jordan, with whom he shared a strong lifelong bond.

In addition to his immediate family, David leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love through his fourteen cherished grandchildren; Shantel, Marquise, Nicholas, Brayden, Markus, Va’Shon, Jae-Lynn, Kayleigh, “Emily”, Adrean, “Baby Mente”, Gabriella, Xavier and Evelynn. Each grandchild has bought Poppy & Nana immeasurable joy and happiness creating cherished memories that will forever hold a special place in their hearts.

David’s faith was an integral part of his life, as he was a man of God, committing himself, at the age of 22, along with Rita on their wedding day! Finding strength and guidance in the word of God, David lived what he believed. Those who knew him, even if only for a short while, will remember him for his infectious sense of humor, playful nature, clever sarcasm, always bringing laughter and joy to those around him.

As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the cherished memories and the profound impact he had on the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know him. Edson David Jordan Jr will be deeply missed but forever remembered in our hearts.

Rest in eternal peace, Pop, in the arms of Jesus, Mary & Joseph. “God can’t fill you with Himself if you are full of yourself”

  1. David Jordan, my brother-in-law, a wonderful, caring, loving man. You will be greatly missed. Rest in Peace.
    Love, Lucy and Bill Hall

    • Dearest Lucy & Bill – thank you for the love & care you provided for David over the last 4 years. The “Far Side” comics especially made him smile & provided plenty of fodder for his quirky “dad jokes” to his quirky kids. All my love
      Rita

  2. David was a dear friend. He was very involved in ministry to men and had a passion for sharing his faith with other men to help them become better disciples of Christ. I have known David for only the last five years or so, but we became very close friends having coffee together and just enjoying each other’s company. David faced his final weeks with courage and joy. Even in his trial, he showed great faith. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

May you rest in peace my friend,
    Mike Bonin

    • Michael! Champion friend!! Truest Brother! Your many sacrifices to get David to & from Temple VA for all the “icky stuff” are noteworthy! You gave us hope w your enduring presence especially on the frigid drive in 11• weather at 11pm!!! Aubrey & I are forever grateful for your compassionate care that night & many days after. Be at peace ~ we love you & Diane forever

  3. David was a true blessing to everyone he met. He was always pleasant and his joy shown through in every interaction I ever had with him. His impact upon the men of the Bryan College Station Deanery was tremendous and he will be fondly remembered among the men across the diocese of Austin. My prayers continue to be with Rita and the family. Rest in the arms of Jesus my friend. You have been a good and faithful servant of God! David … please pray for us!

  4. I met David in the late 70’s. I could tell he had a purpose and drive about him. He was a kind and gentle man with a smile and laughter that went from ear to ear. Little did I know that he would soon become my brother-in-law when I married Rita’s sister. We had three wonderful sons that I am very proud of. If it hadn’t been for David and Rita, our sons would not exist today. David, I owe you more than words could ever explain. I know you will brighten the days of your new friends in heaven. I will continue to pray for Rita and your family. RIP David, you had a good life!

  5. Dear Rita and family,
We are so sorry for your loss and want you to know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Thank you for your friendship and for all of the work you did for St. Anthony’s. We know David is smiling in Heaven and watching over his family. May you all find peace and comfort in God’s love ❤️.

  6. You made me feel like, it’s cool to live Jesus. It really is. Give Jesus the biggest hug for me, brother. I love you. Rest in Peace.
