Danny Lee Burgess

Danny Lee Burgess, 79, of Bremond, Texas, a devoted husband, father, uncle, great uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on Friday, May 20, 2022. Danny was born in Greenwood, Indiana on January 25, 1943, to Mark and Kate Burgess.

Danny played Basketball and Baseball in High School. He worked as a Salesman and Manager for Allison Engine Company whereupon he devoted 37 years of his life culminating a distinguished career. He also worked for Greenwood Police Department in Indiana and the Harrah Police Department in Oklahoma, for a total of 18 years. Danny loved his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Danny was a faithful servant of the Lord. Danny loved working his cows on his ranch, watching sports, especially the Yankees and March Madness, and enjoying life with his beautiful wife.

Danny met Jan Swanson while living in Indiana and the two were wed in 1963. They created a life together and had two children, Jill and Jeff. Jan passed away in 1983 after almost 20 years of a blissful marriage. He met Dorothy and they were married in 1984. Dorothy and Danny enjoyed camping and traveling to National Parks, cruising the seas, sitting on their back porch watching the sunrises and sunsets, as well as attending their grandchildren’s sporting events together. They had 37 years of a loving marriage.

Danny is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of Bremond. He is also survived by his children, Jill, Jeff, Ginger, Todd, Tate, and Trevor. His grandchildren, Jaron, Jasmine, Hailey, Cooper, Caleb, Scarlett, Grace, Katie, Mackenzie, Maddy, Mercer, and Corin. His great grandchildren, Brynli, Kyler, Jakyrie, Taylor, and Palmer, with two more on the way. He is further survived by his sister, Sharon, along with four nieces all of whom he loved and adored.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Kate, his Aunt Margaret,
and his first wife Jan.

Prior to his passing, Danny asked that in lieu of flowers anyone desiring to make a gift in his memory send a donation to your local Police Department.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Danny on Saturday July 16, 2022. Further details
will be sent out to family and friends in the coming weeks.
