Bill Barclay (BB) Scasta, a well-known area icon, passed away Wednesday February 24th, 2021 at his home in Wheelock, Texas. A celebration of life service will be held at a future date this spring. Memorials may be made to Traditions Hospice and Central Church.
Bill was born June 2, 1932 in Bryan, Texas to John R. and Ella (Blazek) Scasta. He graduated from Franklin High School and attended Texas A&M. He joined the US Navy at age 17 and served in the Korean War. On November 16, 1952 he married Delma Brunette. Bill was a Homebuilder and Broker in the Brazos Valley. He was a member of Central Baptist Church, Bryan City Council, President of the Board of Realtors, and President of the B-CS Homebuilders Association. He enjoyed reading, gardening and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Bill was survived by his wife Delma (Brunette) Scasta, his son Bruce Craig Scasta and his wife Claren, his daughter Kelli (Scasta) Lewis and her husband David. Two grandsons James C. Janak and his wife Claudia, David Barclay Lewis and his wife Kayla. His two sisters Cynthia Janik and Francis Walton and her husband Frank. His brother Lonny Scasta and his wife Bobbie. Two great grandsons (with another great grandchild on the way), multiple nieces and nephews, that he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by older brother John H. Scasta.

An amazing man, a family man, humble, a great sense of humor, the best of 42 players. Thank you Bill.
When I first went to work I had the pleasure of working with BB and in the early 1980 he built our house. He was a gentle soul and such a pleasure to work with. I have many fond memories of working with him and enjoying his friendly way.
We were so sorry to hear the sad news of Bill’s passing. We will miss you dear friend. Bill was a kind, compassionate and a true gentleman.
May the love of those around you Delma provide comfort and peace to get you through the days ahead. You are loved.

I met Bill Scasta in 1950 when he spent almost his entire fifteen day military leave (US NAVY) paying untold hours with his girlfriend, Delma Burnett. Delma was his only sweetheart which lead to their marriage. There can be no doubt that Delma made a good choice. Bill’s devotion and loyalty to the Lord, Delma and children is a toss-up in my mind. Over the years I knew Bill to be an astute business man. The homes that he constructed where of the highest quality and he strove to keep construction costs down. Many other attributes are found on his final resume. Among these attributes are his love for a good game of “42” for which the domino group (Wednesday at the Zion Church Kurten, Texas ) considered him and his knowledge of how to play the game to be the “best of the best”. I was delighted when the two of us were partners in the game. As Bill entered Heaven he probably asked to be placed in the section with other lovers of the “42” domino game. I was saddened to hear about Bill’s passing. He will be sorely missed by all. I’m glad we were friend’s of your family back in the “day”. I still remember the times our two families would get together or we’d all go to Bruce’s and Lynn’s Little League games. My parents (Marvin Herrmann and Charlsey Ward) really liked and respected the whole family. My Dad loved to hunt like Bill, but was not very good at it, but one season, Bill brought him over a deer from his recent hunt! “Uncle Bill” is how I will forever remember him. I forgot to say I’m sure my Dad sought out Bill the minute he got to Heaven, and after swapping some stories, they got 2 more 42 players rounded up and are playing 42 right now!
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of such a dear friend. I had the pleasure to work with Bill when I was in the banking business in Brenham. Hadn’t seen him in many years, but thought of him so often. An outstanding man and friend. Prayers are with you Delma and family.
