Norilee Tomchesson

June 28, 1951 – October 13, 2019

Norilee “NiNi” Barnes Tomchesson was born on June 28, 1951 in Franklin, Texas. She was the only child of John Walter “Dub” Barnes and Gladys Causey Barnes. She was diagnosed with an ALS like disease around twelve years ago and battled it until her body no longer could. God called her home to be in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on the early morning of Sunday, October 13, 2019.

Norilee moved to Bryan at a young age and remained a lifelong resident. She attended Stephen F. Austin High School from which she graduated in 1969 and then attended Dallas Fashion and Merchandising school in Dallas, Texas before returning to Bryan. After several job opportunities, she was hired in 1984 by Dr. R.H. Harrison as the office manager for his Urology practice. Dr. Sam Harrison took over the practice when his father retired and Norilee continued to work for Brazos Valley Urology. After several more years in the office she would continue her career handling medical records for BVUA from home until her disability retirement in 2007.

Norilee married Mike Tomchesson on April 22, 1972 uniting them for 47 years of marriage. They have two children, Courtney Brooke Slenk, and fiancee Matt Stellges; John Anthony Tomchesson and wife Robin which takes us to what really made her tick, being “NiNi”. Her grandchildren, Halea LeAnne Slenk, Coltin Slenk, Jackson Allred and Bailey Harris meant everything to her and she would let you know that every time she had an opportunity to.

Her husband, children, and grandchildren all survive her.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, maternal and paternal grandparents, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

We would like to thank all of the wonderful doctors and medical staff at CHI St. Joseph’s Hospital for all of the great care over the last few weeks. Thank you also to our angels at Traditions Home Health, Traditions Hospice, and Felle, she was your “Baby” and she loved you very much.

All remembrances will be appreciated, however, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association here or by phone at 1-800- 572-1717, ext. 2. Or, donations made to Central Church Children’s Ministry in Norilee’s memory are much appreciated.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Thursday, October 17th at Callaway-Jones Funeral Center, 3001 S. College Ave., Bryan, TX 77801. Family and friends will meet at 9:15 AM Friday, October 18th at Callaway-Jones Funeral Center for the procession to Aggie Field of Honor Cemetery for the 10 AM graveside service and interment.

Her Celebration of Life will follow at 11:30 AM Friday at Central Church, 1991 FM158, College Station, TX 77845 with Pastor Chris Osborne and Pastor Tim Skaggs officiating.
