Mike was born August 1, 1968 to Michiel and Delores Ashley. He was the heart and soul of his family and the one everyone looked to for advice and guidance. Mike was a big-hearted, quick witted, larger than life humble man with a smile and laugh that matched his heart. Mike was the hardest working provider and would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it.

Mike was most known for the love he had for his family – his wife Holly truly was his heart and soul. If he was standing here right now and was asked what his greatest accomplishment in life would be, without hesitation, he would say being a Dad to daughter Marquel and son Mike. He was incredibly proud of both of them and supported them in everything they did. He took and cherished the role of a guiding, loving Dad very seriously. Big Mike loved tinkering and working in his shop with both of them restoring cars or just working on anything they could find. They both have driven pickups that they restored with their Dad – representing a time Mike cherished with them. Seeing them spread their wings and fly out on their own and accomplish so much made him so proud.

Mike would tell you the best thing he ever did was marrying the love of his life Holly. Their courtship before they married 15 years ago was short, but he would tell you it was because he just knew she was the one he would spend the rest of his life with. He quickly realized he had finally met his quick-witted match in her and he loved every single minute of it. Mike relished and enjoyed his time spent with Holly and looked forward to his weekends where they would get on his Harley Davidson and ride with friends. He loved sharing his love of motorcycles and riding with her. Mike adored and loved Holly with everything he had and just loved being her husband.

“Big Mike” will be missed not only by his family but by a large circle of friends he worked with that he considered family. Mike loved Harley Davidson’s, pranking family and friends, working on old cars and cutting down trees.

Mike is survived by wife Holly Ashley; daughter Marquel Ashley of College Station, Texas; son Michiel Ashley III of College Station, TX; mom Delores Ashley and brother Randall Ashley of Edge, Texas; sisters Cynthia Reed of Bryan, TX and Sabrina Hall of Colorado and a niece and six nephews as well as a large circle of family and friends who loved him.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in the name of Mike Ashley to the: Brazos de Dios Toy Run, c/o The Ranch | Harley Davidson, 4101 Texas Hwy 6 South, College Station, TX 77845

  14. I met Mike through Malinda, and always thought what a truly wonderful man he was. He met my husband Chad through Malinda as well, and those two would get to talking, bragging on how great their wives were and how they had beaten the divorce odds and drawn the golden tickets!! It was wonderful to hear a man speak with such love and admiration about his wife. Holly, I’m so sorry he was taken too soon, but know tha he felt his life was completely happy and blessed–and that his wife and children did that for him. I won’t lie and say it gets easier… but it WILL calm down and the good memories will come shining through–usually when you need them the most. Treasure every minute you had…magic like yours is special, and you will find him in your children’s smiles and laughter!! God Bless!!!

  15. Holly,
I’m so very sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. My prayers are with you.
