Mary Rebecca Keathley Richardson Singer of Coronado, California passed away Friday December 16,2011. She was a former resident of College Station. A graveside service will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, December 27, 2011, in College Station Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory in Bryan.
Becky as she was known, was born in Houston, Texas, on June 21,1923. She attended public school in Houston. In 1940 she enrolled at the University of Houston but marriage, World War II, and two daughters interrupted her degree plans. She completed her degree from the University of Houston in 1965 with a major in English and History. She received her Master of Science degree in Education Administration from Texas A&M University in 1968. She taught English at Bryan High School.
Survivors include two daughters, Anne Parkin of Cranfills Gap, Texas, and Tommie Jean Bethune of Coronado, California; two stepsons, Robert Singer Jr. of Ames, Iowa, and Tom Singer, of San Antonio, Texas; six grandsons, two great grandchildren and one on the way.
Ms. Singer was one of my favorite teachers in SFA. She always knew how to put a smile on my face. She was such a caring and interested instructor.She always manged to get her point across one way or the other, without making you feel small. I thank you for all your years of caring.
