Martin Randolph Cole

November 14, 1932 – August 25, 2018

A man of faith, a man witnessing his love for other’s, as Christ loved us, Martin Cole, 85, of Bryan, passed way on Saturday, August 25, 2018, in Bryan as his family stood along his side. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm, Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at Callaway-Jones Funeral Center. A graveside service will be held at 11am, Friday, August 31, 2018, at Roselawn Cemetery in Denton, Texas. Services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers.

Martin was born on November 14, 1932, to Randolph Gustavis Cole and Clara Thomas Durham Cole in Era, Texas. Martin was a bright young man who was raised to be humble to all he met; he graduated Valedictorian from Sanger High School. He went to study at North Texas College where he earned two degrees and graduated with honors. His childhood sweetheart and love of his life Bettye Jane Hood would soon become his bride on June 28,1953. Martin and Bettye were blessed with three wonderful children in their marriage of Sixty-five years, Ethelyn, Marty, and Wendy. Martin while in the US Army, served overseas in Japan. He retired from Moore Business Forms after 38 years. He opened his own business BLAT School Vending Machines. Martin was active in serving his church and others; he was ordained a deacon at Bolivar Baptist Church. He was baptized at fourteen years of age, making his Christian commitment to live a life of service to others. He was baptized in First Baptist Church of Sanger for Bolivar Baptist Church. Life was great and the arrival of his grandchildren was welcomed, as he would become the world’s greatest “Anndaddy” to his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many others. His favorite pet Beau was his true companion of all times.

His parents, Randolph and Clara, precede him in death. Brothers, Elvin Guinn “Pete” Cole and wife Bonnie Reed Cole, Burgess Dale “Doodle” Cole and wife Margie Clearly Cole, James Gorde “Jimmy” Cole. Several brothers and sisters in law.

Martin is survived by his lifetime friend and wife of sixty-five years, Bettye Jane Cole; his children Ethelyn Carr, Marty Cole and wife Sena, and Wendy Kuder; his grandchildren Ashley Kuder (Danny Reyes), Lindsey Watson (Ramsey), Lindon Carr III, and Blake Kuder; his great-grandchildren Ethan Arredondo, Rylee Watson, Landry Reyes, and Hadlee Watson; brother and sister, Robert William “Bill” Cole and wife Vera Linaham Cole, Mary Lucille Cole and husband Oscar Shelton, sister-in-law Sue Norman Cole. Eddie Martin that he raised as his own son and his wife Kim; several brothers and sisters in law; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Honoring Martin as pallbearers are Chris Shelton, Ramsey Watson, Hugh Hood, Billy Ray Hood, Eddie Martin and Ronald Cole
