Leroy Edwards Jr

Mr. Leroy Edwards, Jr. was born March 17, 1933, to Leroy Edwards, Sr. and Lucy Peavy, in Grimes county, Anderson, Texas. Leroy was one of ten children. Leroy attended public school at I.M. Terrel and Piney Wood Elementary. He worked as a Ranch hand for Mrs. J.S. Bracewell and as a cowhand for Mr. Anton Hildebrandt. Later in life he would work for Mr. Hildebrandt’s son, David. Leroy loved to garden. His most prized vegetables were collard greens and tomatoes. Throughout his life, Leroy would mow lawns for numerous people in the community.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, seven other siblings and his son Clifford Edwards.

He leaves to cherish his memories, wife Gloria Mitchell Edwards, sons Herbert Edwards and Joseph Edwards, his daughters, Beverly Lott, Lavadia Edwards, Gloria Bircher, and Katrell Coleman and two sisters Beatrice Sims and Annie Mae Maxey.

He also leaves to cherish his memory 13 grandchildren, and great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers in Bryan College Station.
