Julie Elizabeth Snook

Julie Elizabeth Snook
December 27, 1962 – May 3, 2016

On May 3 we lost a beloved daughter, sister, mother and grandmother when Julie Snook passed away at her home in Bryan. She was born December 27, 1962 in Bryan to Worth D. Nowlin, Jr. and Toni J. Nowlin (now deceased).

Julie was a 1981 graduate of Bryan High School and completed studies at Charles and Sue’s School of Hair Design. She practiced cosmetology in Austin, College Station and Bryan for more than 30 years.

She is survived by her father, Worth Nowlin and wife Laura of Bryan; brother Keith Nowlin of Marshfield, Missouri; her spouse of 24 years James Strobel, Bryan; son Keith Snook of College Station; daughter Alexandra Snook and spouse Nick Bagley of Bryan; stepsons Chad and Brad Strobel of Bedias; and grandsons Johnny and Atom Bagley, Bryan. She is also survived by two nephews, Ian Nowlin of Marshfield and Tristan Nowlin of Ardmore, Oklahoma; and her great-aunt Betty Brown of Hawkins, Texas.

Julie enjoyed raising flowers and vegetables, home decorating featuring bright and cheery colors and hosting parties, large and small. She was an animal lover and always had at least one pet (usually more) all her adult life.

Her grandsons were the joy of her life. They will miss their visits with their Nana at her house, “reading” books and playing.

A memorial service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at St. Michael’s Academy Chapel, under the direction of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory.

  2. So hard to believe you left us so soon, my dear friend. I’ll ever hold dear memories of times we shared together. Who is going to go with me to concerts now? Your friendship & companionship will be desperately missed. Peace & comfort to your family & friends in the time ahead, trying to become accustomed to life without our dear Jules.

  3. James and family, this was a big shock to us. We hurt for you and family. I know how much you loved and counted on Julie. God bless you with His Presence and Peace.

  4. Julie was a wonderful person who loved James, her children and her grandchildren. She was generous in spirit and quick to find the good in people. She was my hair stylist for over 20 years and we shared with each other many joys and sorrows over the years. I cannot be there in person to offer my condolences but I know I will never forget her. May her family and friends take comfort in remembering her for all of her gifts.

  5. Julie, it seems like a dream and your not really gone. I am devastated for your family as I know you were so close. I love you and you will never be forgotten! RIP sweet friend. Cindy Soltis

  6. Deepest sympathy for Julie’s family. She was always smiling and always had a joke to share. She was so proud of her family, and I know she is in Heaven now and her spirit is with them.

  8. I want to express my deepest sorrow and condolences to her family. My prayers are with you all. Julie has been my hair stylist and friend since she was working in Post Oak Mall, so for many many years. I will miss her wonderful smile and our many talks about our families. She loved James and her children and her glorious grandsons. She was really glad when Alex moved back to town and she really loved her grandsons to the moon and back and being a Grandma. I appologize for not being able to attend the funeral yesterday, but i just found out about her passing today. Julie, we all love you and will miss you deeply.

  9. Dear James, Keith, Alexis & Grand babies,

May our good Lord give you the strength and courage to get through this journey of life. We don’t like to go through this but we have to believe she is no longer in pain or suffering.
