Jose Flores Medrano, Jr.

May 1, 1938-April 8, 2019

Jose Flores Medrano Jr., 80, of College Station and formerly of Longview, TX, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2019 at Accel of College Station in College Station, TX. He was born in Menard, TX to Jose Medrano and Juanita Flores May 1, 1938. Jose served the community as a Supervisor for the City of Longview Water Department and a Volunteer of the Fire Department. He enjoyed creating with leather work, fishing with family and friends, and raising chickens.

Jose is survived by his children, Juan Carlos Medrano from Jourdanton, TX and his mother Beatrice Carrizales, Sylvia Muniz from Beaumont, TX, Rose Mary Lewis and husband, Randall from College Station, TX, Johnny Medrano, Gloria Bell, Elex Medrano and their mother Josephine Guijarro, and Efrain Joe Medrano from Longview, TX and his mother Mary White-Edwards; his sisters, Lupe Rodriguez and husband, Frank from San Angelo TX, Mary Esquivel and husband, Alfonso from Winters TX, and Lucy Gonzalez from Ballinger TX; 18 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Medrano; mother, Juanita Flores; brothers, Anistacio Medrano and Nicholas Medrano; and sister, Pura Luna.

The family would like to thank the staff at Fortress Nursing Home, Accel at College Station and Hospice Encompass Health of College Station, TX for all their compassionate care.

  5. Grandpa, as I walked into your room the day you passed I could see that you were finally at peace. Today you are being layed to rest along side your mother and father by your family and friends. We weren’t close close as I was growing up, but these past two years Jason and I saw a love grow between you and Emily! We were blessed she had the chance to get to know you.
