June 11, 1963 – November 7, 2019
John Douglas “Doug” Volk, 56, of Bryan, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 7, 2019. A Celebration of Life will begin at 10:00am Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Callaway-Jones Funeral Center, 3001 S. College Ave in Bryan.
Born June 11, 1963 in St. Louis, Missouri, to John and Shirley Volk, Doug moved to the Bryan College Station area in 1986 and has worked as a store manager for HEB for 12 years. Doug will be remembered as a social butterfly, always meeting new friends and getting along with everyone. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially loved being a dad. When he wasn’t reading, fishing, or setting off fireworks, he could be found in the kitchen cooking crepes and pies among other tasty treats, or grilling barbecue for the family.
Doug was preceded in death by his father, and by his sons Zachary Carl Volk and Kyle Higgins.
Survivors include his significant other, Holly Daniel; son, Zack Kyle Volk; mother, Shirley Volk; step-daughter, Ashley Jones and her husband Jeremy and their son Jaxon Jones; aunts, Jacquelyn Pinkney and Jo Worssam.
In lieu of flowers the family ask for donations to Hospice Brazos Valley, 502 W. 26th St. in Bryan.
Our hearts and prayers are with your family . We are so sorry .
