Jana McMillan

Our beloved Jana went to be with the Lord on December 26th, 2018. She was surrounded by the people that she loved the most and was ready to be with Jesus.
Jana Brown McMillan was born in LaMesa Texas on October 30, 1954. She graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Fashion Design in 1977. She was the first in the family to graduate from college.
After college, she settled in the Bryan area in 1977 where she went to raise her family and get involved in local politics including being elected to city council in College Station.
While Jana has returned home in Heaven, she leaves behind two children, Cameron McMillan, 37, of Salt Lake City Utah and Mark Allen McMillan II, her son, 36, of Wheelock Texas. She also leaves behind her most beloved and special grandson, Mark III , almost 17, of Wheelock Texas. Shelly McMillan is a special daughter-in-law that Jana treasured dearly. Jana is also leaving behind a soon to be son-in-law and soon to be step grandchildren who all were able to love Jana before her return home to her Savior.
She was loved and cared for by so many. She was passionate in her political beliefs and faith in Jesus. She will be truly missed by so many. She set the example of what a true example of a lady is.
Her legacy of turning pain into faith will live on for generations. Mom, you loved us so much and your family will forever miss you. We are so glad you are free of pain. Thank you for being part of our lives. We treasure the time we had with you.

Jana will be honored with a Celebration of Life at 2pm Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Center in Bryan.

In Lieu of any flowers and any donations please direct to readby3rd.org as she gave her time there and believed in this cause greatly.

  8. To the McMillian family,
Your mother was a wonderful lady, who will be missed. May you each have God’s peace and grace during this time

  9. Jana, I will miss you. Jana was a strong light for Christ, a beacon for truth in politics and a strong supporter for kids learning to read. I valued and depended on her guidance in many areas. I treasure the day to see her again❤️❤️

  10. Dear Cameron, Mark Jr., Shelly & Mark III, and other family members:
Jana was a very special person as you know! We had so much fun together supporting many causes, block-walking for candidates, and just hanging out together. I was part of the lunch-bunch before I moved to Wisconsin. She will be greatly missed. We loved her!

  11. We were fortunate to have known Jana, an exemplary woman. She was steadfast in her beliefs and her convictions. We lost a friend but gained an angel.

  12. I am so sorry for your loss. I greatly admired Jana although I did not know her that long. On occasion she shot with us at A Girl and A Gun, College Station chapter. Even when she was unable to join us we stayed in touch. God bless you all.

  13. Jana fought her condition with strength, intelligence and prayer. We met shortly before her diagnosis and became friends and I admired her resilience and positive nature. So sad to learn of her death
