James Benedict, 75, of Bryan, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2018, in College Station. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7pm, Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at Callaway-Jones Funeral Center. Graveside services are scheduled for 3:30pm, Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at Tecula Cemetery just outside of Jacksonville, Texas. Services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers Bryan-College Station.

James was born Jan 27, 1943 to Darrell and Maureen Benedict in Jacksonville, Tx. He married the love of his life Margaret Koen Benedict on May 24, 1963 in Jacksonville, TX and moved to College Station 1972. They had 3 children; Stephanie Benedict Flores and husband Danny of Portland, TX, Don D Benedict of College Station, TX, Todd Benedict of Kerrville, TX. Grandchildren Tyler and Kaylee Flores, Jordan, Erin, and Rylie Benedict of Bryan and Shelby Benedict Perkins and husband Daniel Perkins of Yuma, Arizona. His sister Sandra Massey and husband Joe of Jacksonville, TX, brother Gaylon Benedict and wife Libby of Rusk, TX, sister in law Catherine and husband Edward Koen of Jacksonville, TX, sister in law Martha Ray of Jacksonville, TX. Nephews John Ray, Donnie Ray, Ronny Ray, Ricky MaCoy, Jimmy Ray, and Greg Ray, all of Jacksonville, TX; his niece Mandy and husband Steve Layton, nephew, Joey Massey, both of Troup, Texas; his niece Amberly Benedict Arnold and nephew Ryan Benedict, both of Rusk, Tx.

James worked for Billups Petroleum in Jacksonville then transferred to Bryan where he worked for Circle K, then the Brookshire Save A Lot, Brooshire Tobacco Barn where he retired in 2014.  In his spare time he enjoyed face booking, Western Movies, especially Walker Texas Ranger, and was an avid mall walker for the last 5 years. He really enjoyed being retired and loved spending time with his grandchildren who loved him dearly.

  4. I will dearly miss my big brother James, even tho there were miles between us I thought about him every day,AND i KNEW HE WAS THERE . FACEBOOK KEPT US CONNECTED. I have our growing up memories and those of our visits through the years after they moved away. Just want his family to know that I loved him like a little sister should.   6. Margaret and family, It has been too long since our families lost track of each other and hopefully we can fix this. It was with great sorrow that we belatedly found out about James’s passing. We offer our sincere condolences for your family’s and your loss. Watching the video brought back so many great memories of our families growing up together. We dearly remember James’s smile and laugh. He was a good family man and will be missed. Your loss is heaven’s big gain. You all are in our thoughts and prayers.
