There will be a private family service for Glenda Ezell, a resident of College Station, and formerly of San Antonio, TX, at Callaway-Jones Funeral Center in Bryan. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio. Glenda, age 80, passed away with her family at her side on March 7, 2019 and is now in the arms of our God.
Glenda was born to Ray G. and Mildred Eleanora (Herling) Heckmaster on October 16, 1938, in St. Paul, Minnesota. After completing high school she started a family and devoted the rest of her days to their care. At age 30, she took flying lessons and piloted a cessna with all three of her children on board. Glenda went to night school to earn a degree and began working as a court reporter until retiring at age 54. She married James H. Ezell in 1973 and started family traditions that continue today. Over the years, her spare time was filled with sewing, gardening, and cooking. She hosted Thanksgiving for 35 years in a row. Glenda’s love of family was handed down to her children.
Glenda was preceded in death by her husband James; parents Ray and Mildred; sister Mavis Clark ; sister Millicent Godding; twin sister Ethel Ann Heckmaster; and daughter Katherine Garcia.
Surviving Glenda are her children: Robert (Michelle) McIntosh, and Karen (Chris) Townsend; her grandchildren: Frank (Renee) Coffland, James (Naisha) Coffland, Jennifer Truss, Madeline McIntosh, Meredith McIntosh, and Michael Townsend; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers Ray, J.D. and Scott Heckmaster; along with sister Donna Pahl.
Burial will be in Fort Sam Houston Cemetery in San Antonio, TX.
The family wishes to thank the hospice team for the care they provided and asks that donations be made to Hospice Brazos Valley in lieu of flowers.
My heart is filled with countless memories of Glenda. My best memory is when she told me I could call her “mom.” I will certainly miss her and her witty sense of humor. Knowing she’s now in heaven with Kathy and all her loved ones will help ease the pain of our loss.

Dear Karen and Bob,
We know how hard it is to lose your mother and how your kids feel about the loss of their grandmother. The hardest part for me was that life went on as if nothing happened even though life as I knew it was changed forever. Words may seem hollow now, but in time, they will bring some comfort. As days pass, the pain will ease and peace will come. Until then, take time to grieve, be kind to one another, understand grief is different for everyone, and know you are loved by many.
