Gerald Gene Hill
October 6, 1930 – April 3, 2018
On April 3, 2018, Gerald G. Hill peacefully passed to his reward at the age of 87. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family who dearly loved him.
“Jerry” was born to Thomas Cicero and Jesse Lee Hill in Lufkin, TX on the 6th of October, 1930. He was the youngest of 16 children and spent his formative years in Lufkin where he was the only one of the 16 siblings to graduate from Hudson School. After graduating in 1948, he worked in an auto body shop where he learned the auto body repair trade. Jerry served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and resumed working in the auto body repair business after his honorable discharge from the Army. In 1957, he went to work for Allstate Ins. Co. as a claims adjuster. He was later transferred to Beaumont where he met the love of his life and in 1962 married Ann Anderson and moved to Victoria where he continued to work for Allstate. He worked for Allstate until 1973 when he left the insurance field to open his own body shop (Jerry’s Body Shop) in Cut-‘n-Shoot, TX. He sold his shop and retired to Conroe in 1993.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Ann, his son, Tommy Hill, and all but one of his 15 siblings.
He is survived by sister Fay Grissett of Freeport; Daughter Sharon and husband Dr. Micheal Tredway of College Station; granddaughter Dr. Tiffany and husband Steve Ransom of Magnolia and son, Christopher and wife Kosal Tredway of Magnolia; great grandchildren Parker and Jasper Ransom, Drake Tredway, and Bryce and Jase Williamson all of Magnolia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sharon, Mike, Chris, Tiffany and Family,
I often think about Uncle Jerry. You probably don’t know this but I almost did not go to work for him because he was my Great Uncle. I was concerned what people would say. However I am glad that I did.
Working daily with Jerry (he insisted I call him Jerry) was a blessing that benefited me more than I could have imagined. He was patient, kind, helpful, and a great role model. He encouraged me to set goals and plan for the future. I will always be grateful for the years we worked together and the friendship that grew between us during that time. Sometimes when I think of, or apply something that he taught me, I smile because I remember that I still carry a part of him with me.

P.S. It was my Mom that prompted me to go talk with him about work. Maybe because she knew that would be good for me. Moms (and Dads) are good at that!
I only met Jerry once, in 1994, but he was kind to me during a very emotional time of my life. He and Ann drove me from Houston to a conference in San Antonio. He was nonjudgmental, welcoming and honest. I’m sorry for your loss.
