Dorothy Marie Hinson

Dorothy Marie Fields Hinson, 71, died on the evening of Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at her home in Flynn, surrounded by her family, following her brave battle with cancer.
Marie was born in Shephard, Tx, on September 12, 1944, to Leon Fields and Dorothy Monroe Fields. She spent her childhood in the Conroe area. In the mid 80’s, she and her husband, James, moved to this area and made Flynn their home.
Marie adored her husband, James, whom she was married to for over 39 years. She lovingly nicknamed him “J.R.” and she often referred to him as her “hero”, that he had rescued her. Their marriage was an inspiration to many people. They had a playful love and they worked hard together to blend two broken families into one. Marie loved her children and was available day or night to be a listening ear or to offer a word of hope. Her 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren knew that “Gran” loved them dearly. Her home was never too full. This past Thanksgiving she had 34 of her children, great and great-children here and she would have gladly squeezed more loved ones in every corner. Lastly, she loved her little dog, Gracie. She loved Gracie and was gentle and kind to her- counting her as a full-fledged family member.
Marie accepted Christ in October of 2004. She was baptized and became a member of Ephesus Baptist Church in Jewett, Texas, where she had many close friends who loved her dearly. Marie’s final desire was that each of her family members would accept Jesus and experience the peace that she did.
Marie is preceded in death by her brother Gene Raymond Fontaine, her sister Dixie Biddle and brother-in-law Burel Biddle, and her parents, Leon and Mary Lee Fields.
She is survived by her husband, James Riley Hinson, her son Mike Hinson and daughter-in-law Kathy of Riverside, Texas and their children Riley and Matt, her daughter Tammy Payne and son-in-law Sam of Flynn, Texas and their children Samantha, Brittany, Tucker, Bethany Cheyenne, Blakely, Bailey and Ethan, her son Mark Anthony Parker and daughter-in-law Cindy of Centerville, Texas and their children Rachael, Madison, Kelsey, Garrett, and son Joseph Markham and special friend Thersa Woodward of Leander, Texas and his children P.J. Smith and Shellie Hinson. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren, as well as her brothers and sisters, Wayne Fontaine, Bill Fontaine, Glenda Tyler, Maryette Chatham, Betty Powell, Sid Fields and Virginia Barr, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 am Monday, December 14, 2015 at Ephesus Baptist Church in Jewett, Texas. Following the service, a meal will be provided by the ladies of Ephesus Baptist Church and Vanetia Baptist Church. Pastor Ray Payne will be officiating. Services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory.
