Billie N. Turnham


Billie Jo Nevill Turnham, 86, of Bryan passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018 surrounded by her family.  Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church, Bryan, Texas on Monday, February 5, 2018 at 10:00 am.  Interment will follow at Bryan City Cemetery.  A visitation will be held at Callaway-Jones Funeral Center on Sunday, February 4, 2018 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.

Billie was born on January 22, 1932 in Cross, Texas to George Mack and Johnnie Pritchett Nevill.  She graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1950 where she served as drum major of the Bryan Bronco Band her senior year.  She married the love of her life, Nick, who was attending Texas A&M, on August 26, 1950 and they shared 67 ½ years together.  In 1953, they moved to Hearne, Texas where they reared their daughters, Karen and Denise.  In 1969, she began working for Medical and Surgical Clinic as an office nurse.  Upon retirement, she was recognized by the Texas State Senate for her outstanding service to the citizens of Robertson County.  In 2001, Nick and Billie returned to Bryan to be closer to their family.  She was a loving and attentive wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to her family.  After the love of God and family, her next great love was Aggie sports – a season ticket holder for Football, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Baseball and Softball. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Bryan and Advent Sunday School Class.

Billie is predeceased by her parents, George Mack and Johnnie Nevill, her brothers, G. M. Nevill (Jeanne) and Monroe Nevill, sisters Elouise Fretz (Ed), Doris Davis (Donald), and Dene Manning (Paul); also, her mother in law and father in law Nick and Ruby Turnham and sister in law and brother in law Viola and David Reed.  She is survived by her loving husband, Nick Turnham, daughters Karen Turnham Bradberry and Denise Turnham Lister and her husband Tony Lister.  Her grandchildren are Brandi Bradberry, Alisyn Lister Hargett and husband Thadd Hargett and John Lister and his wife Lauren Spilker Lister.  She also leaves behind five great grandchildren, Will and Luke Hargett and Kinley, Lena and JJ Lister and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Oliver Aldrich, Todd Davis, Jon Nevill Finney, Bill Harper, Mike Hollar, J. Paul Manning, Nevill Manning, Pat Polansky, Davis Watson and Jay Don Watson. Honorary pallbearers are Luke Hargett, Will Hargett, JJ Lister, Tuesday Night Dinner Group and Advent Sunday School Class.

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, Bryan Texas or Hospice Brazos Valley.
