Barbara Rahnert Lloyd
July 4, 1936 – November 30, 2016

Barbara Lloyd, 80, of Bryan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, in Bryan. A visitation is scheduled for Saturday, December 3, 2016 from 2 to 4pm at Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers. Funeral service for Mrs. Lloyd will be Sunday, December 4, 2016, at 2:30pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Reliance Cemetery in Brazos County. Service are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers.

Barbara was born July 4, 1936, to Henry Julius Rahnert and Hilda Schmidt Rahnert in Bryan, Texas. She attended Bryan schools and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1954. It was here that she met her best friend and lifelong sweetheart Jimmy Lloyd. She attended Sam Houston State Teachers College while Jimmy attended Texas A&M Veterinary College. They married on August 31, 1957. Barbara worked for Dr. Howard Cargill at Bryan Animal Hospital to learn about Jimmy’s chosen career. Jimmy and Barbara lived and practiced veterinary medicine in several locations including Floresville, Tx, Kiron, IA, Bryan, Tx, Houston, Tx, and back to their hometown of Bryan, Texas.

Barbara was active in the Bryan-College Station Newcomers Club, serving as president from 2000 – 2001. She was also a member of the Kurten Chapter No. 1146 Order of the Eastern Star. She is also a member of Reliance Baptist Church in Kurten. She enjoyed traveling with her family. One of her favorite places to visit was the Rocky Mountains.

Barbara was preceded in death by both her parents Henry and Hilda Rahnert as well as her younger brother Charles Rahnert.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years, Jimmy Lloyd; she leaves behind her sons John Lloyd and Roxanne, of Madisonville, Ky, Jerry and wife Brandy Lloyd, of College Station, TX, and Judson Lloyd of Houston, Tx; her six grandchildren Dwaynne Lloyd, Elizabeth Lloyd, Lacee Sowell, John Lloyd, Jacob Lloyd, and Katie Lloyd; her sister Margaret Jones and husband Lowell Jones, of Bryan, Tx; and other relatives.

Barbara’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Traditions Health Care for providing wonderful and loving home health hospice care.
