Sue Niemann, 61, of College Station, formerly of San Angelo passed away, August 21, after a year-long bout with cancer.
Sue was born December 21, 1951 to F.W. (Bill) Baumann and Henri Daune Riley Baumann, in Temple, Texas, and raised in Killeen. After graduating from Killeen High School in 1970, she attended Southwest Texas State University, now Texas State, in San Marcos and the University of Texas School of Allied Health Sciences at Galveston, where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology in 1973. Sue worked in labs at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston and Scott and White Hospital in Temple. After having children, Sue was an active volunteer in the public schools in San Angelo. In 1989, she was co-recipient of the Volunteer of the Year Award for the San Angelo school district.
While growing up in Killeen, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Her joys included her loving family, granddaughter and friends. Sue’s favorite pastimes were fishing, reading and working, with stained glass.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her very loving husband, Bob, her two sons, Ryan and fiancée, Rhi Stinette of Austin, Mark and wife, Julie of College Station, granddaughter Alyssa Niemann, of Weathorford, brother, Mike Baumann and wife Susan of Killeen and sister Edith Cooper and husband, Charles of Brownwood. Sue also leaves behind several nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A memorial service for family will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to a favorite charity or Hospice Brazos Valley
