Joe Angel Ruiz, 64, of Bryan, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2012 at College Station Medical Center. The first visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Monday, April 30, 2012, at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan. A second visitation will begin at 6 p.m., also on Monday, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan, with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with The Reverend Monsignor John McCaffrey officiating. Interment will follow at Bryan City Cemetery.
Joe was born on November 20, 1947 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He moved from Austin to Bryan in 1971. Joe was married to the love of his life, Lupe Ruiz. Joe was a General Manager for Ken Martin’s Family Restaurants for over 40 years. He was not only dedicated to his work, but to serving the people in the Brazos Valley Community. Although he spent most of his time working, he enjoyed gliding across the dance floor to country and western music. Often, one could catch Joe with his windows down, singing to his favorite tune. He touched many people’s lives and will truly be missed.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Encarnacion Ruiz and Marina Guerra Ruiz; and two brothers, Tino Ruiz and Ricky Ruiz.
Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Mark and Amber Ruiz of Bryan, and Joey Ruiz of Bryan; daughters and son-in-law, Linda and Juventino “Junior” Martinez of Bryan, and Donna Ruiz of College Station; brothers, Ramiro Vidaurri of Corpus Christi, Encarnacion Ruiz, Jr. of Corpus Christi, Reynaldo Ruiz of Corpus Christi, and Daniel Ruiz and wife Belinda of Pasadena; sisters and brothers-in-law, Frances Cantu of Virginia, Consuelo and Juan Sanchez of Ben Bolt, Blanca “Stella” and Lauro Trejo of Brownsville, Maria and Arturo Salinas of Bryan, Janie Kumar of Corpus Christi, and Gracie Rivera of Pasadena; grandchildren, Juventino Martinez III, Barbara Elaine Martinez, April Marie Ruiz, Sabrina Volens, Scott Volens, Jordan Martinez, Anthony Martinez, Avery Ruiz, and 2 on the way; and 5 great-grandchildren.
