April 27,1959 – September 13, 2018

Rory Gillies, 59, of Bryan, passed away on Thursday September 13, 2018 surrounded by his family. We will honor and celebrate his life on Monday September 17, 2018, guest are invited to visit with the family from 10AM until the time of the service at Twelve Noon. The service will be held at Texas Avenue Baptist Church, College Station. Cremation services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers, Bryan-College Station.

Rory Gillies was born in Brownsville, TX on April 27, 1959 to Mark Jacob Gillies II and Norma Herty Gillies. Soon after graduation from St. Joseph Catholic High School he was enrolled at Texas A&M University in College Station where he completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1983. He was self-employed as a Contractor in the Bryan-College Station area.

His soul mate, Janice, completed him, whom he was married to for 19 years. Janice and Rory had a very special love. He always knew how to make her smile and laugh every day. They enjoyed traveling and seeing the world together. He loved Aggie football, cooking, fishing and spending time with his family. Rory had a very special bond with his grandchildren who they lovingly referred to as GoBear.

Rory is preceded in death by his parents Mark Gillies II and Norma Gillies and by his brother Mark Gillies III.

His wife Janice Gillies, son Stuart Gillies and wife Alison, daughter Samantha Gillies, bonus-daughter Mandi Hersley and husband Michael, bonus- daughter Samantha Lambert and husband Chris, and his grandchildren Landon, Blake, Chelsey and Shawn survive him. His sister Marie Gaussiran and husband Thomas, brothers Richard Gillies and wife Shirley, Allan Gillies and wife Celia, and in- laws Gene Howard and wife Norma also survive him. His numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends will also forever remember Rory.
