Richard (Dicky) Don Dennington, a native of Shawnee, Oklahoma and long time resident of Somerville, Texas died Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at the age of 68 at St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan, Texas surrounded by his loving family. Service are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Cetners, Bryan-College Station.

A Graveside Service for Dicky was held on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Wellborn Community Cemetery in Wellborn, Texas. The service was officiated by Rev. Bruce Bergthold.

Dicky was born on February 13, 1950 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to John Milton Dale Dennington and Elizabeth German Dennington. Soon after his birth Dicky’s father who was in the military was transferred to San Clemente, California. Throughout Dicky’s childhood the family lived in numerous places including College Station and Houston where he attended grade school and Furr High School. In high school Dicky belonged to the FFA where he proudly won a blue ribbon for one of his entries.

Upon graduating from high school Dicky entered the United States Air Force. Following his stint in the USAF Dicky returned home.

Dicky was known to be a very sweet little boy and a kind and gentle person who enjoyed fishing at Lake Somerville and Galveston. He loved his family and the companionship of his cat, Toby.

Dicky is preceded in death by his grandparents, his father Dale Dennington, and his brother Robin Dennington.

Those left to cherish his memory are his mother Elizabeth Boyd of Somerville; sisters, Peggy and David Melton of Warda, Leah Menchaca of College Station, Cynthia and Bruce Bergthold of Geneseo, Illinois, Jennifer Davis and Gary Bachert of Somerville; brothers John and Sayla Dennington of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Ralph Plagens Jr. of Somerville; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
