John Woodworth Antoine, 85, of Bryan passed away Friday, April 13, 2018.  A memorial service will be held Friday, April 20, 2018 at 2:00pm at Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers in Bryan.

John was born on May 24, 1932 in Missoula, Montana to Lester and Dorothy (Goodell) Antoine. The family moved to New York where he attended Pearl River High School. He attended Colgate University where he received a bachelor’s degree. After graduation from Colgate, he and his high school sweetheart, MaryAnn Shea, married and lived in Nanuet, New York. John worked at Columbia University’s Lamont Geological Observatory exploring the oceans. He joined Texas A&M Department of Oceanography in 1960 continuing his research and received a Masters of Science degree. John was an avid golfer, playing regularly with a fun group of friends. He loved playing the piano and listening to music – attending monthly jam sessions. He was fun loving, witty, and a friend to all.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Dorothy.

John is survived by his wife of 63 years, MaryAnn; daughter Jennifer Armstrong (Pat); son Brendan Antoine; grandchildren Amber Southisone, Cody Leeth, Brianna Antoine, and Bryson Antoine; and great-grandchildren Tommy Southisone and Parker Leeth.
