Doris Lackey

Doris Sybel(Tharp) Lackey, 90, of Bryan, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday June 20, 2018. Doris will be honored with a Life Tribute Service at 4:00 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2018, with a reception to follow, both at Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers, 3001 S College Ave in Bryan, Texas.

Doris was born in Farwell, Texas on August 5, 1927 to Floyd Moody and Rena (Simpson) Tharp.

She lived on a farm most on her life, caring for her husband and children. In their later years, she lovingly cared for her parents. She was a devoted daughter, wife and mother.

Mrs. Lackey was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Moody Tharp and Rena (Simpson) Tharp; sister, Juaneva (Tharp) McCrary; and daughter, Rena Kay (Lackey) Thames.

She is survived by her husband of 76 years, Jesse Homer; three sons, Stacy (Reda) Lackey, Gary (Diane) Lackey, and Jesse (Jan) Lackey; nine grandchildren, Scott Lackey, Kristin (Llyod) Denman, Ryan (Laura) Durrett, Adrienne (Hayden) Zaskoda, Ashley (Brad) Murdock, Brazos Lackey, Dana (Dustin) DuBois, Kendall Lackey and Callie (Montrel) Duckett; ten great-grandchildren, Anna Denman, Cole Denman, Keegan Durrett, Ellery Durrett, Dawson Murdock, Braylee Murdock, Alexandria DuBois, Daxton DuBois, Evangeline DuBois and Mavin Duckett.

Just think, she’s in heaven with her father, her mother, her sister and her daughter.
