David Berry


David Owen Berry, age 65, ascended from this Earth on January 1, 2018 after a lengthy illness. Born in Tyler, Texas, David graduated from Tyler Public Schools and then joined the military. Dave served as a photographer with Special Forces in Germany, after which he brought his photographic skills to College Station. He worked as a professional photographer and camera store manager for several decades, then finished his working career with Lowe’s Home Improvement store.

Dave will be remembered by his numerous friends as one always ready to help. His sense of humor and kindness garnered the admiration of all those who knew him.

David is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Mike Bell of Bullard; two granddaughters, Katie and Reagan Bell also of Bullard; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Kathy Berry of Cypress; and his long-time companion Yvonne Becker of Houston.

A time of visitation for friends and family will be held from 6 to 8 pm, Thursday, January 4, 2017 at Callaway-Jones Funeral Center, 3001 S. College Ave in Bryan, Texas. His life will be honored with a graveside ceremony at 2 p.m. Friday, January 5, at the Athens City Cemetery, in Athens, Texas.

  3. We were so surprised and sorry to hear about Dave’s passing. We enjoyed working with him at Ritz and always looked to catch up with him at Lowe’s. He will be missed but we are glad that he is relieved of his suffering and illness here on earth. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all!

  4. I’m sorry for your loss. Dave a d I were friends and I was his mechanic. I hadn’t talked with Dave in a few months and I didnt know about his illness. We had good times together and went sailing a few times also. I’m sorry that missed the funeral, rest on peace my friend!

  6. To family and friends, I’m so sorry for the loss of a wonderful man. He was a good friend. We became friends in 1992 when I moved across the street from him on Festus lane. I lived there for 6 years. He took many family photos of my children, and my wedding pictures when I remarried. I wish I had known he was so I’ll. I would have made a point to spend more time with him. I will miss you my friend !! My prayers and thoughts are with you Jennifer and your family. Love to all, Sherry.
